Privacy Policy

BeSettled is a matchmaking service built around one real conversation and one written reflection of who you are — not a feed, not a swipe deck. This page explains, plainly, what we collect, why, and what control you have over it.

We're a small team in beta, not a law firm. This policy is a good-faith, plain-language description of what the product actually does today. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer. If you have concerns about how your data is handled, email us before you share anything you're not comfortable with.

What we collect

When you start an interview, we collect:

Your gender and the genders you're seeking a match among
Your age (we require 18+) and general location (city and state/region)
The full conversation you have with our AI intake specialist — this is the core of the product, since your Portrait is written from it

If you choose to leave feedback after your Portrait, we may also collect your email address, a rating of how accurate it felt, and anything you write in an open feedback field. All of that is optional.

How your conversation becomes a Portrait

The interview is conducted by an AI system (Claude, built by Anthropic), and your written Portrait is generated by that same system based on what you share. This means your conversation and the resulting Portrait content are sent to Anthropic's API to be processed. We don't control Anthropic's infrastructure, but we don't use your data to train anyone's models, and we haven't given Anthropic any independent right to use your data beyond generating your Portrait.

Where your data lives

Your interview, messages, and Portrait are stored in a Postgres database hosted by Supabase. The application itself runs on Fly.io. Both are infrastructure providers — neither has any product relationship with you, and neither sees your data outside of storing or serving it on our behalf.

What we don't do

We don't sell your personal data to anyone, ever
We don't run ads, and we don't share your data with advertisers
We don't show your Portrait or interview answers to another person unless a real match is made and you've been through that process — there is no public profile, feed, or browsing of other users

Deleting your data

You can delete your interview and Portrait at any time using the "Delete my data" link on your Portrait page. This permanently removes your interview transcript and Portrait content from our systems. If you previously submitted feedback, that feedback is kept (it helps us improve the product for everyone) but is anonymized — your email address is removed and it's no longer linked to your identity in any way.

Age requirement

BeSettled is for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that meaningfully affects how your data is handled, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Given how early-stage this product is, expect this document to evolve as the product does.
